Purpose of Job:
|
The Teacher Apprentice will work closely with an apprentice advisor to develop essential teaching skills and gain practical classroom experience. This position provides an opportunity to engage with students and assist in creating an inclusive, supportive, and innovative educational environment. The Teacher Apprentice will support instructional delivery through whole-class and small-group activities, develop and reinforce students’ academic and social-emotional skills, and prepare instructional materials. Additionally, the Teacher Apprentice will spend at least half of their day participating in activities designed to develop on-the-job competencies while receiving continuous feedback and guidance from the apprentice advisor, clinical supervisor, and district coordinator(s).

Primary Job Duties/Responsibilities: The following duties are normal for this job. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned as needed.

General Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
- Required to work under direct guidance of the apprentice advisor unless otherwise assigned to another supervisor
- Assist the apprentice advisor in preparing and organizing instructional materials, classroomsetup, and maintaining a conducive learning environment
- Monitor student behavior and ensure a safe and respectful classroom atmosphere
- Support students during classroom activities, transitions, and independent work
- Collaborate with the apprentice advisor to deliver lessons and activities designed to meet the educational objectives of the curriculum
- Provide one-on-one or small group support to students as needed
- Assist in grading assignments, exams, and projects according to established classroom routines and procedures
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes student engagement and participation
- Show measurable progress on competencies as outlined in on-the-job learning standards progression
- Ensure adherence to all Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), 504 Plans, and other legally required accommodations for students
- Maintain effective communication with students, parents, and other staff members
- Provide feedback to the apprentice advisor on student progress, challenges, and achievements
- Participate in professional development workshops and training sessions to enhance teaching skills and knowledge of educational best practices
- Attend all teacher meetings, observe experienced educators, and engage in reflective practices to support growth
- Work collaboratively with the apprentice advisor and district coordinator(s) to receive constructive feedback, guidance, and support for continuous improvement
- Engage with students to actively facilitate their learning while progressively assuming instructional responsibilities under the guidance of an apprentice advisor

- Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of district information
- Support the effective delivery of a high quality of education for all students
- Provide exceptional levels of professional support and service to staff and public
- May operate a motor vehicle to conduct various work activities
- Successful completion of Criminal Justice fingerprint/background process and drug screen
- Appropriate Attendance Record
- Dress neatly and appropriately, according to system staff dress code

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

- Associate’s degree (A.A. or A.S.) or equivalent
- 2.75 GPA – Associate’s degree
- Minimum of 21 on ACT or pass the Praxis Core
- Maintain active enrollment in an Educator Preparation Program (EPP) and comply with attendance and professional conduct requirements set by the EPP and school district
- Maintain the minimum grade point average required by the EPP
- Successfully pass all state-required licensure exams and requirements for Teacher Certification
- Exhibit effective communication and interpersonal skills to foster a collaborative environment
- Demonstrate strong time management and organizational skills to manage responsibilities efficiently
- Display flexibility to balance the dual role of learning and working
- Exhibit an eagerness to learn and grow through constructive feedback from experienced educators

Abilities/Physical Requirements
|
Physical demand requirements are at levels of those for active light work in a classroom setting. Must be able to stand and walk prolonged periods of time, as needed, to monitor students in a variety of settings (e.g. classroom, hallways, playground, cafeteria)
