Purpose of Job:

Organize, manage, coordinate, and monitor all aspects of school age childcare at assigned site location.

Primary Job Duties/Responsibilities:   The following duties are normal for this job. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned as needed.

General Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for the day to day operations, including staff and the program
  • Implement program’s Mission Statement
  • Inform staff of State Rules & Regulations and make sure they are implemented
  • Meet Department of Education Rules and Regulations
  • Meet and maintain all safety requirements from both local and state officials
  • Responsible for verifying individuals picking up children and notifying the SACC Director of any attempt of unauthorized individuals wishing to pick up children
  • Establish and enforce policy and procedures related to school age child care and WeeCare
  • Maintain paperwork for effective overall operation in the areas of 1) sign-in/out sheets; 2) LEAP/Tutor Timecards; 3) Distribution of calendars and notices to parents; 4) Posting “Full Day” information two-weeks prior to date of service; 5) receipt record sheets; and 6) supply of receipt record book
  • Monitor snack and juice supply; pick-up items when needed; maintain inventory and notify SACC Assistant Director when supply is low
  • Responsible for employee work schedules to include employee absences and distribute workloads fairly among all workers
  • Maintain a safe and clean environment daily, use Fridays or “Movie Day” when ratio numbers are lowered to assign additional cleaning duties to staff
  • Plan and implement calendar activities that are student interest based
  • Must have fiscal responsibilities regarding tuition collection and parent notification
  • Self-responsibilities or schedule one person to check mailbox for any/all correspondence in the time frame of 2:00-2:30 p.m. (grades PreK-5) and 2:15-2:30 p.m. (grades 6-8)
  • Determine the number of workers needed to provide childcare and release co-workers when numbers are low
  • Notify SACC Director when a worker is not performing his/her job
  • Enter new student enrollment records; change and modify existing records for each calendar year
  • Assist with records, retention and destruction process and have knowledge of rules and regulation pertaining to implementation
  • Responsible for watching and protecting children at all times
  • Notify Program Director of issues within assigned site location that need to be addressed
  • Responsible for locking any and all doors within facility
  • Responsible for employees adhering to dress code and appropriate conduct
  • Schedule one person to pick up and deliver items to Central Office on a daily basis
  • Responsible for proper key distribution of facilities
  • Responsible for Chromebook and cellphone at site location and ensure use is for SACC purposes only
  • Responsible for knowledge of proper safety drill procedures to include evacuation procedures and safe areas within facility
  • Responsible for completing daily check list and placing it, along with sign-in/out sheet, in bank bag daily
  • Notify appropriate authorities and SACC Director of suspected child abuse
  • Responsible to oversee LEAP grant activity, coordination and execution
  • When applicable, responsible for meeting LEAP expectations daily (examples include but are not limited to: SWORPs data, daily tracking of a student’s tutoring, attendance, participation, technology time, and mini physical camps of interest

Other Duties and Responsibilities

  • Project a positive image of the LSSD at all times
  • Keep information confidential concerning school business
  • Act in a professional manner at all times
  • Maintain a minimum of 30 hours per week and a maximum of 35 hours per week. Any hours above 40 must approved by Program Director.
  • Must attend required in-service and training hours needed to fulfill position requirements
  • Must obtain prior approval for planned absences and notify the appropriate personnel within the established guidelines of emergency absences
  • Responsible for properly reporting work time via MyBenefits portal
  • May operate a motor vehicle to conduct various work activities
  • Successful completion of Criminal Justice fingerprint/background process and drug screen
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • High school diploma along with additional administrative training (one year or more)
  • Possess knowledge in all aspects of all school age child care
  • Evidence of strong customer service and communication skills
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Director of SACC/WeeCare or Director of Schools may find appropriate and acceptable

Abilities/Physical Requirements

Must be physically capable to meet job expectations including, but not limited to playing with children, end of day cleaning duties and execution of activities
