Purpose of Job:

Provide quality child care services to the children of Lebanon Special School District’s school age child care program.

Primary Job Duties/Responsibilities:  The following duties are normal for this job.  These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive.  Other duties may be required and assigned as needed.

General Responsibilities/Essential Functions:  

  • Responsible for watching and protecting the children at all times
  • Responsible for taking children to bathroom, providing assistance when needed to children and ensuring that proper hygiene is performed (i.e. washing hands) each time
  • Notify SACC Director of issues within assigned site location that need to be addressed 
  • Administer juice and snacks to children
  • Perform daily housekeeping tasks as assigned
  • Responsible for verifying individuals picking up children and notifying the SACC Director of any attempt of unauthorized individuals wishing to pick up children
  • Responsible for knowledge of first aid procedures and location of first aid items in case of emergency
  • Adhere to Department of Education Rules and Regulations
  • Responsible for ensuring infants in care are breathing during periods of rest (if applicable to role)
  • Meet and maintain all safety requirements from both local and state officials
  • Implement program’s Mission Statement
  • Notify appropriate authorities and Program Director of suspected child abuse
  • Responsible for knowledge of proper safety drill procedures to include evacuation procedures and safe areas within facility
  • Ensure that the use of the district’s resources (time, money, people) are used in the most strategic and effective way possible

Other Duties and Responsibilities

  • Project a positive image of the LSSD at all times and support district goals
  • Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of district information
  • Support the effective delivery of a high quality of education for all students
  • Provide exceptional levels of professional support and service to staff and public
  • Must obtain prior approval for planned absences and notify the appropriate personnel within the established guidelines of emergency absences
  • Must attend required inservice and training hours needed to fulfill position requirements
  • May operate a motor vehicle to conduct various work activities
  • Successful completion of Criminal Justice fingerprint/background process and drug screen

Qualifications:  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • High school diploma 
  • In-service training/other training related to child care (preferred)
  • Possess knowledge in all aspects of all school age child care
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Program Director or Director of Schools may find appropriate and acceptable

Abilities/Physical Requirements

Must be physically capable to meet job expectations including, but not limited to playing with children, end of day cleaning duties and execution of activities.
